Meet the team

 

 

The Mulberry Centre has a small team of paid staff who are involved in all aspects of the delivery of our services. Our counselling and therapies and group activities are delivered by a wonderful team of volunteers who are led by part−time professionals. We also have strong governance with a Trustee body of 10 who bring a wide range of expertise and skills (health, accountancy, legal, fundraising, business and community).

Raj Athwal

Executive Director

Full-time

Raj is responsible for overall management of The Mulberry Centre and leadership of the team of staff and volunteers. Key responsibilities are: strategic direction of the charity; developing and implementing service enhancements; fundraising and promotional strategy; staff recruitment; development and building relationships with stakeholders.

 

Julie Quinn

Mulberry Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Services Manager (MMCISSM)

Full-time

Julie is responsible for the delivery of our comprehensive support and information programme and ensuring consistent high-quality delivery to anyone affected by cancer. Julie oversees the delivery and development of all our client support services by managing a team of five. She ensures that our projects meet the needs of the people we serve, are delivered safely and effectively, and meet all relevant legislative and safeguarding requirements.
Julie also works closely with the Executive Director to raise the Mulberry Centre’s profile through community engagement and awareness about the signs and symptoms of different types of cancer and ways in which people can adopt preventive measures.

 

Katherine Heath

Psychological Support Lead

Part-time

Katherine’s primary responsibilities include leading and supporting the Cancer Information Supoort Assistants, psychological support team members as well as the team of volunteer counsellors in accordance with the Centre’s guidelines in order to ensure that the Centre’s high reputation for these services is maintained.

 

Charlotte Burn

Mulberry Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Assistant

Part-time

The Cancer Information Support Assistant’s supports Julie, the Cancer Information and Support Manager to provide a comprehensive holistic cancer information and support service within The Mulberry Centre to meet the needs of cancer patients, carers and those bereaved as a result of cancer.

 

Raffaella Zaccarini Tate

Mulberry Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Assistant

Part-time

Raffa supports Julie, the Cancer Information and Support Manager to provide a comprehensive holistic cancer information and support service within The Mulberry Centre to meet the needs of cancer patients, carers and those bereaved as a result of cancer.

 

Tom Stockton

Community Engagement Lead

Part-time

Tom’s role includes raising The Mulberry Centre’s profile through community engagement at the same time as educating people (through presentations, desks and information roadshows), on how to identify signs and symptoms and reduce the risks of cancer.
Working closely with the Information and Support Services Manager, Tom is involved in maximizing opportunities to engage with hard to reach groups and develop new networks to increase awareness of The Mulberry Centre amongst the wider community.

 

Debbie Davey

Mulberry Macmillan Volunteer Lead

Part-time

Debbie is responsible for all aspects of volunteering at The Mulberry Centre, including the co-ordination, recruitment, induction, support and training of volunteers, adhering to the Centre’s volunteering policies. Debbie matches the skills and availability of volunteers to the roles available and supports and monitors the impact of volunteering on the Centre’s activities.

 

Chris Rees

Welfare Benefits Information Lead

Part-time

Chris is responsible for providing a high-quality Welfare Benefit Information Service to help people affected by cancer or are end of life.  He will help to access and claim welfare benefits, grants and other financial support that may be available to them. This includes informing people on the financial support available, making applications on their behalf and following through applications to result.

 

Angie Forero

Finance and Operations Manager

Full-time

Angie is responsible for the financial and operational management of the Centre, overseeing among others the Reception, estates & facilities and IT systems. Her financial role involves ensuring the financial records are up to date and providing key reports to The Board of Trustees and the Fundraising Team.

 

Denise Hill

Finance and Admin Assistant

Part-time

Denise provides Finance and Administration support to the Centre. Her role involves ensuring that good quality accurate information is held on our database, processing donations, thank you letters and bank reconciliations.

 

Santosh Chohan and Jas Toor

Services Administrators

Part-time

Santosh and Jas are the first point of contact for our clients at the Mulberry Centre. They are responsible for providing essential administrative support, dealing with face to face queries, telephone calls and booking appointments. They also provide day to day support to all our volunteers and staff members.

 

Catharine Langrish

Fundraising and Communications Manager

Part-time

Catharine is responsible for developing the fundraising and communications strategy, and primarily focuses on making grant applications, and working with companies and individuals to raise income, in-kind support and awareness for the Centre.

 

Jo Taranowski

Fundraising and Communications Lead

Part-time

Jo works closely with the Fundraising and Communications Manager to provide effective communications to increase income and raise our profile. Jo is responsible for growing, organising and the recruitment of fundraisers to participate in Challenge Events.

Jo has responsibility for running the complementary therapy services in accordance with the Centre’s guidelines. She provides guidance and professional support for all our volunteer therapists in order to ensure that the Centre’s high reputation for these services is maintained.
