Therapies

relaxation therapies

Which therapies are available?

Each person can choose one of these therapies:

They may have six sessions of any one therapy.

Therapies cannot be mixed e.g. two Shiatsu and four Reflexology. All therapies are free of charge

Who can use the therapies at TMC?
Anyone registered at the centre within the last 2 years and who is: a cancer patient, their nominated supporter or those bereaved through cancer.

Who carries out the treatments?
TMC has a team of volunteer therapists who, having attended a reputable school, are fully qualified in their particular therapy. All have gone through a rigorous selection procedure, have individual insurance and adhere to a strict professional code of conduct.

What to expect from a treatment
All treatments last for one hour. On the first visit a full case history will be taken enabling the therapist to establish if there are any cautions or contraindications that need to be observed, thereby making the treatment both safe and enjoyable. You will then be asked to give your consent to treatment. All information is completely confidential and kept securely at The Mulberry Centre.

The therapies are adapted to the needs of the individual, depending on the person’s medical and physical condition and reason for treatment.

After the treatment
As some people find the treatment extremely relaxing, we advise that you sit quietly for 10 to 15 minutes afterwards. This “coming-to” period is particularly important if you are driving yourself home.
It is important to tell your therapist if you feel uncomfortable or experience any tenderness during or after any treatment so that further treatments can be adapted to ensure that they are more suited to your needs.

How do I book?
All therapies usually have a waiting list. Ask a member of the team or contact TMC on 020 8321 6300 to be added to the waiting list. You will then be contacted as soon as an appointment becomes available.

If for any reason you are unable to keep an appointment, please notify the centre as soon as possible and preferably no later than 24 hours prior to the appointment.
