Claire joined the Centre in May 2007, having left a similar role in a Cardiff based charity. The overall purpose of this diverse role is to sustain the high quality of existing services and to lead in the development of new ones. A large element of the Director’s role is to secure our financial future, which includes ongoing fundraising and promoting the Centre’s profile within the community and corporate world. The Director’s role also has overall responsibility for the management of the Centre and staff.

The Macmillan Services and Volunteer Co-ordinator is responsible for the co-ordination of the services provided by The Mulberry Centre as well as the recruitment, support and coordination of volunteers. Adrienne is also the first point of contact for new and existing clients. Adrienne joined the Mulberry Centre in March 2008 as Macmillan Services and Volunteer Coordinator having previously worked for a number of educational organisations both in the UK and New Zealand.

“If you volunteer to fundraise for The Mulberry Centre or donate funds, you should feel very proud to support such a special place.”

The Community Fundraiser’s role is to link with local schools, businesses, churches and groups and to develop a fundraising programme within the community. Joan is always looking for new volunteers who can help with occasional and regular fundraising events and is happy to visit local organisations to do informal talks or give presentations about the work of the Centre.

Before coming to Mulberry, Joan managed a Community Arts Workshop in a Hounslow based charity and prior to that was a training and network manager for a major bank .

Mary Burns is Macmillan Mulberry Cancer Support Manager. Her background is counselling and outreach work with the Irish Community.

On your initial visit to the Centre Mary will be one of the first people you meet. She will always have time to listen will offer you a space to explore how cancer is impacting your life and explain how the Centre can support you in a holistic way.

Her role within in The Mulberry Centre focuses upon providing an empathic listening presence together with person centred information from a range of credible resources. This could be information about specific cancers, financial support or dealing with the side effects of cancer treatment, to name just a few.

She is available for people to drop in as they feel free and to answer enquiries via e mail and telephone.

Sue has worked in the past in a busy  Oncology Department as Patient Pathway Co-Ordinator and first came to the Mulberry Centre as a volunteer. She is also a trained counsellor and joined in October 2010 as a MMCSO and will be one of the first people you meet when you first come to the centre

Gail spent many years as a teacher of mathematics and a pastoral head in a comprehensive school. Four years ago after retirement from teaching she came to The Mulberry Centre as a volunteer - working as a meeter and greeter and helping with the director's administrative work.  She joined the staff in August 2008 as an administrator continuing to work with the Centre's Director

The Senior Therapist is involved in the recruitment and induction of all volunteer yoga, tai chi and complementary therapists. She provides specialist training, professional support, supervision and guidance for the therapy services and ensures that the standards required by the therapists’ professional bodies are met in order to maintain the Centre’s extremely high reputation for these services.

Jan is a highly qualified clinical aromatherapist and massage therapist with 10 years experience in her field. She is a locum for the Royal Marsden Hospital and is also a specialist in palliative and end-of-life care. Jan was previously a volunteer at The Mulberry Centre and took up the consultant post in 2005.

The Senior Counsellor is responsible for ensuring that we provide a counselling service of the highest quality, that is enriching for both our clients and our volunteer counsellors.  This includes both our one to one counselling service and the groups that we run which are also facilitated by counsellors.

Sally has been working as a  qualified counsellor with her own private practice since 2003.  She is an accredited member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).  She has extensive experience of working with short term counselling and has seen the benefits that a limited amount of counselling can bring.  She took up the post at the Mulberry Centre in April 2007.
